The Local Investing Resource Center is a nonprofit educational and advocacy project of the Initiative for Local Capital. Originally founded in 2012 by James Frazier and a team of pioneers in the local investing movement, the website was transitioned to the Initiative for Local Capital (Local Cap) in late 2019 to carry on the mission of expanding local investment to support small businesses and nonprofits nationwide.
Local Cap’s first step with the site was to update and revise the original content for relaunch in April 2020. The next step will be the addition of a brand new section containing educational materials and resources designed specifically for investment advisory professionals. Future plans include addition of a section designed for entrepreneurs and business owners.
The website revision and improvement project is funded by a grant from the Investor Protection Trust (IPT). The IPT is a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education. Since 1993 the IPT has worked with the States to provide the independent, objective investor education needed by all Americans to make informed investment decisions.
In addition to the IPT, Local Cap would like to thank the original contributors and advisors who created much of the content that is still in use today.
